Celebrations
Celebrations are automated, date-based posts in MustardHub that mark key moments for team members. They run in the background and require no manual action once enabled.
Celebrations provide predictable, system-driven moments of acknowledgment without requiring managers or admins to remember dates, schedule posts, or manually award points.
There are currently three celebration types:
- Birthdays
- Work anniversaries
- Welcome aboard
Each celebration can be enabled, disabled, and configured independently during onboarding or at any time later.
How celebrations work automatically
Once enabled, celebrations trigger automatically based on member data and post to the culture feed according to your settings.
- Birthdays: Triggered on the member’s birthday
- Work anniversaries: Triggered on the anniversary of the member’s company start date
- Welcome aboard: Triggered on the day the member joins your MustardHub Workspace
Each celebration can be posted publicly or privately, which means it would only be visible to the recipient.
Posts are generated automatically using the Admin-configured message and point amount.
How to review or adjust celebrations during setup
During onboarding, the celebrations screen lets Admins configure date-based automation for member milestones.

To configure a celebration:
- Select Setup next to the celebration type
- Check the box to activate the celebration
- Choose whether the posts will be public or private
- Review the default post message
- Confirm the number of points to award for that kind of celebration
- Confirm the date-based trigger
- Save

Each celebration type follows the same steps. The only difference is the trigger date.
This step can be completed or skipped during onboarding. Celebrations do not need to be enabled all at once; they can be configured individually based on Organization preferences.
How celebrations connect to points and funding
Celebrations can automatically award points when triggered.
Points are your team’s digital currency. They are earned through recognition and can be redeemed for rewards in the Marketplace.
To avoid interruptions, it is recommended to enable Auto-refill so celebration posts are not paused due to insufficient balance. A celebration post will go live only if there are enough points to meet the predetermined point threshold for that celebration category.
If a celebration is paused due to insufficient balance:
- The post is placed on hold
- Admins are notified via email, the notifications center, and dashboard alerts
For more details on how funding works, see B.7: Funding Your Workspace.
What happens after celebrations are active
Once your Workspace is live:
- Celebrations continue running automatically
- Posts are created only when trigger conditions are met
- No manual approval is required
- Celebrations pause if funding becomes unavailable
What can be changed later
At any time, Admins can:
- Enable or disable individual celebrations
- Change public vs private visibility
- Edit post messaging
- Adjust point amounts
To manage celebrations after onboarding:
- Go to Admin → Settings → Celebrations

Changes apply going forward and do not affect past posts.
Common questions
-
Do I need to enable all celebrations?
No. Each celebration is optional and can be configured independently.
-
Can I skip this during onboarding?
Yes. Celebrations can be set up later.
-
Will celebrations trigger unexpectedly?
No. All triggers are date-based and visible in settings. Nothing posts without an enabled celebration and sufficient funding.
-
Where do awarded points go?
Points are recorded in member wallets and transaction history. See D.5: Wallets, Transfers & History for details.
-
Are there tax implications?
Some rewards may have tax considerations depending on the configuration. See D.2: Important Tax Matters or D.3: Tax Categories for guidance.
-
How does this affect long-term participation?
Celebrations contribute to participation signals over time. For interpretation, see C.1: Culture Studio.
