Choosing an industry

During initial setup, MustardHub asks you to select an industry that best represents your Organization.

Industry selection helps MustardHub apply sensible defaults and context during setup. It provides light context to the system and helps make getting started quick and easy. 

At a high level, this allows the system to:

• Pre-configure certain elements to reduce manual setup
• Use relevant contextual patterns when interpreting signals over time
• Improve the relevance of system suggestions

Choosing an industry may influence:

• Which default elements are suggested during setup
• How certain system surfaces are initially framed
• The contextual lens used when interpreting patterns later on

Industry selection does not lock you into a permanent configuration. This step will not affect permissions, access, or visibility. It also does not impact reporting or how key features function.

Don’t worry if you don’t find a perfect match for your Organization.

This information is used solely for background context. The industry selected does not change how the platform fundamentally works. It is not a commitment, a strategic decision, or a permanent setting.

How to choose an industry

After you complete the initial account steps (personal profile and basic company information), you’ll be guided into the onboarding sequence.

The first step in that sequence is selecting an industry.

You’ll see:

• A searchable list of common industries
• Broad, general categories designed to cover most Organizations
• A search field that lets you quickly find a close match

To choose an industry:

1. Select the industry that most closely reflects what your Organization primarily does.
2. If multiple options could apply, choose the one that feels most representative.
3. Do not worry about edge cases or perfect alignment. Your selection does not fundamentally change how the platform works, so a reasonable approximation is acceptable.

How to change industry selection

Industry selection is not permanent.

Changing your Organization’s industry does not erase data, reset configuration, or negatively affect historical activity. It simply updates the context the system uses going forward.

If you need to change the industry after your workspace has been created, please contact support via the help widget to request this change.

Common questions

• What if my Organization fits more than one industry?
  That’s normal. Choose the closest match and continue.

• What if I pick the wrong one?
  There is no penalty for changing it later. This choice is intentionally low-risk.

• Should I optimize this for future insights or reports?
  No. The goal is to make setup easier, not to optimize outcomes.
