Wallets, Transfers & History
MustardHub uses wallets to represent how points are held and how they move through the system. Wallets are accounting constructs, not cash accounts.
There are three wallet types in MustardHub:

Organization Wallet
The Organization Wallet is owned by the company.
It is the source wallet from which points are distributed within the system, including:
- Allocations to Giving Wallets
- Direct point grants or administrative transfers
- System-driven distributions such as celebrations
When an Organization purchases points or funds its Workspace, those points enter the Organization Wallet.
For more information on funding behavior, auto-refill, and replenishment rules, see B.7: Funding Your Workspace.
Giving Wallet
A Giving Wallet is an organization-issued wallet assigned to a Member for the purpose of giving points to others.
Giving Wallets:
- Are provisioned and funded by the Organization
- Are only available to Members who have Peer-to-Peer Giving access
- Contain points intended for recognition, appreciation, or boosts
Points in a Giving Wallet:
- Cannot be redeemed
- Cannot be transferred to the giver’s own Redeemable Wallet
- Can only be transferred to other Members as part of recognition or peer giving
When Giving Points are sent:
- Points move from the giver’s Giving Wallet
- Into the recipient’s Redeemable Wallet
Giving Wallet balances are replenished automatically based on company-defined frequency and amounts.
For peer-to-peer giving eligibility and constraints, see B.6: Peer-to-Peer Giving.
For role-based permission access, see C.5: Members, Roles & Permissions.
Redeemable Wallet
A Redeemable Wallet holds points a Member has received.
Redeemable points:
- Represent earned value from recognition, celebrations, or other distributions
- Can be redeemed in the marketplace
- Cannot be transferred to other members
- Cannot be transferred back to the Organization or Giving Wallets
- Cannot be redeemed for cash
Once points enter a Redeemable Wallet, they are final within the system.
If a Member belongs to multiple Workspaces, their Redeemable Wallet reflects the aggregate of points received across all Organizations.
Each Organization, however, only sees transaction history and activity related to its own Workspace. Points earned in other Organizations are not visible in another Organization’s records or reports.
How balances are represented
Wallet balances show point totals, not cash balances.
They are intended to provide:
- Visibility into where points currently reside
- Traceability of how points moved over time
- A consistent record that supports reporting and reconciliation
Wallet balances do not imply:
- Cash equivalence
- Financial custody
- Tax treatment or withholding behavior
Types of transfers you may see
Transfers represent point movement between wallets. Common transfer types include:
-
Recognition
Points given to one or more members as part of a recognition post. -
Boosts / Peer giving
Points given directly from a Giving Wallet to another Member. -
Celebrations
System-generated point distributions tied to events such as birthdays or anniversaries. -
Administrative Transfers
Organization-initiated distributions or adjustments. -
Top-ups
Allocations into Giving Wallets based on configured rules.
Each transfer records:
- Who initiated it
- Recipient(s)
- What type of transfer it was
- Which wallets were involved
- The point amount
- The status (Sent, Canceled, etc.)
How transaction history works
Transaction history provides a permanent record of all point movement.
Admins can find historical records under Admin → Treasury, including:
- Transfers
- Peer-to-peer giving
- Billing-related activity
Each section includes a History view that shows transactions in a list format, with access to detailed records.

The list view is designed for scanning and reconciliation. It shows:
- Initiator
- Transfer type
- Recipient(s)
- Date
- Status
- Point value
Reading a transaction detail view
Selecting a transaction opens a detailed record.

The detail view includes:
- The original post or recognition context, if applicable
- Who initiated the transfer
- When it occurred
- Total points transacted
- Tax category (classification only)
- Line-item breakdown of recipients and amounts
This view exists to support traceability and audit review, not transaction editing.

Common questions and misconceptions
-
“Do wallets represent real money?”
No. Wallets track points, not cash.
-
“Can Members move points between their own wallets?”
No. Giving and Redeemable Wallets serve different purposes and are not interchangeable.
-
“Can redeemable points be reversed or reallocated?”
No. Once points enter a Redeemable Wallet, they cannot be moved elsewhere.
-
“Is transaction history the same as reporting?”
No. History shows raw records. Reports aggregate and summarize that data.
